Job description

As an established and expanding water hygiene company we are looking to recruit an additional water hygiene engineer in the midlands region.  No previous experience of Water Hygiene or chlorination is necessary as full training will be provided in all aspects of water hygiene within the company and there is a great opportunity to learn from a highly skilled team. We are a field based service organisation in a business to business environment and provide water hygiene services such as chlorination of mains pipe work and buildings, water storage tank cleaning and control of Legionnaires’ disease.  The job involves daily traveling to sites across the UK to provide our services. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner and have the confidence to operate independently in an ever changing environment where job details may not be known in advance, and obstacles arise on a daily basis. They must have a flexible attitude to working and a can do attitude with good attention to detail. They must have the intelligence and intuition to solve the sundry issues without help and to identify and call on help for serious issues. SKILLS REQUIRED GCSE Maths and English grade C and aboveExperience which demonstrates mechanical aptitude and hands on technical abilityExperience at working unsupervisedExperience in direct client communication, explaining works involved and problems encounteredCapable of physical work, lifting, carrying and climbingFull current UK driving License IT literate with a reasonable understanding of mainstream software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet.A good work ethic with attention to detail and a can do attitude DESIRABLE BUT NON ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE A plumbing qualification or plumbing experience Some field based experience in water hygiene industryFamiliarity and understanding of industrial water treatment plant including softenersHolder of C&G risk assessment certificateHolder of C&G confined spaces certificateCurrent CSCS card Current IPAF card JOB TASKS MANUAL TASKS Cold water storage tank cleaning and disinfection, which includes handling and dosing chemicals, measuring of chemical levels and use of power toolsCold water storage tank lining, including use of power tools such as angle grinders and paintingShowerhead cleaning and disinfectionPlumbing remedial worksTMV testing and maintenanceCold water storage tank inspectionsWater hygiene monitoring tasks including temperature testing, water tank inspections, water sampling and water heater inspectionsUnderground new mains connection disinfection including chemical measuring and water samplingChlorination/disinfection of buildings and pipe workCleaning and disinfection of process water cooling systems including cooling towers and evaporative condensersCleaning of process tanks and rain water harvesting tanksProcess cooling water testing and samplingDuct work cleaning GENERAL TASKS Preparing and completing job sheets on PDA tabletEnsuring there is a full working set of equipment and P.P.E prior to attending site work Driving to site (circa 35,000 business miles per annum) Taking and submitting water samples with relevant paperworkCompleting on site log booksWriting reports both by e-mail and in Microsoft WordMaintaining a professional and tidy appearance, both personally and with equipment and vanConfirming attendance on site direct with customers prior to arrivalTaking ownership of issues and problems as they arise and solving them there and then In return the company offers a competitive salary, 23 days holiday plus bank holidays, a company van, mobile phone, laptop and a full induction and ongoing training to a high level.
