Job Description   Job Title:                    Deputy Operations Manager Reports to:                Operations Manager/ Facilities Manager Division:                     Mitie Clean Environments Location:                    Network Rail Contract, Birmingham New Street   Job Purpose:   To proactively provide a first class service, to the satisfaction of the client, through the management & supervision of a team of Cleaning Operatives. Main responsibilities will be to coordinate and work alongside the Night Shift.    Key Responsibilities:   ·           Health & Safety Responsibilities o  To ensure that the Company Health and Safety Policy is properly implemented and adhered to in addition to specific client requirements. o  To ensure toolbox talks are scheduled and delivered to staff. o  To comply with client environmental waste management systems where appropriate. o  Ensure all cleaning operatives comply with Safe Working Practices as directed by Standard Operating procedures, Work Method statements and Risk Assessments. o  To ensure no task or works is undertaken without a Risk Assessment and Method statement. o  Ensure that all machinery used on shift has been PAT Tested, which is in date   ·           Service o        To ensure that the specification is fully implemented and adhered to. o  To ensure that a consistently high standard of service is delivered in accordance with the work schedules. o  To undertake site inspection checks when required, to ensure all site personnel are complying with customer service/satisfaction systems. o  To control supplies of consumables and materials as required alongside the Stores Team o  To ensure all customer queries and complaints are dealt with in a timely and effective manner. o  To do what we say we will do. o  Identify opportunities for new business, additions to services as well as non-contractual work. o  To identify ways in which productivity can be improved whilst maintaining standards. o  To undertake cleaning tasks or functions when the needs of the contract dictate, such as – staff shortages, emergency situations, short notice client demands etc. o    ·         Relationships o  To keep colleagues and customers informed o  To listen and act on what colleagues are telling you o  To be honest and straight forward in communications o  To liaise with the Facilities Manager on key operational issues o  To liaise with the Facilities Manager over equipment and machinery requirements. o  To complete contractual requirements as determined by Network Rail. o  To ensure that MS08 files are kept up to date and fully compliant as per Network Rail guidelines. o  To ensure that all Company Policies and Procedures are fully implemented, adhered to and communicated effectively.   ·         Teamwork o  Treat colleagues with dignity and respect at all times o  Allocate tasks, by experience, ability and skill level. o  To train and develop cleaning operatives to ensure each cleaning operative is multi-skilled and competent to carry out their duties. o  To monitor and review the performance of cleaning operatives to ensure high standards are delivered and maintained. o  To monitor and review absence of cleaning operatives and conduct return to work interviews following every occasion of absence. o  To manage and control cleaning operatives annual leave to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained at all times. o  To ensure payroll and signing in procedures are strictly adhered to. o  To communicate Company and site information to cleaning operatives. o  To carry out YVC briefings with cleaning operatives to ensure that engagement and enablement is maximised at every opportunity.   ·           Manage Self      To attend all necessary internal and external training and development programmes in order to meet the needs of the business and your personal development needs     Qualifications / Experience / Skills Required: ·           Able to communicate in a clear and concise manner ·           Has the ability to work with groups/ individuals at different levels ·           Is enthusiastic with a ‘can do’ attitude ·           Is able to work to deadlines and under pressure ·           Is results focused, measures progress against targets, and is driven to excel ·           Proactively builds excellent relationships with colleagues and clients ·           Has the ability to get others to work together effectively ·           Is able to use own initiative but know when to ask others for assistance ·           Committed to the delivery of excellent customer service ·           Understand the need to control costs ·           Capable of implementing actions to resolve simple problems ·           Flexible with hours of work as required ·           Experience of training at operative level ·           Cleaning industry experience ·           Qualified to BICS level (desirable) ·           Previous supervisory or management experience (desirable)   You will be expected, from time to time, to complete other tasks as requested by either the Operations Manager or Facilities Manager.       Vocational (e.g. NVQ/SNVQ) 2+ yearsCareer levelManager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff)
