  An opportunity to join a fast paced, FMCG manufacturer, and as part of a larger, international group, we are seeking a talented technical/quality professional to lead the quality function on site, and champion quality within the factory, as well as contribute to the strategic direction of the factory and the site. As the Technical Manager, you will lead food safety expertise across the site proactively managing standards and improvements in the site’s food safety culture with a strong background and experience of Food safety. You will have overall responsibility for managing the company’s technical processes and procedures to ensure due diligence and product quality throughout the business. Crucially, the maintenance of BRC standards, lead and manage customer audits, managing complaints, non-conformances and critical issues as well as working closely with the production and hygiene teams. Main Duties ·         To provide an effective and timely response to all technical issues, including quality and food safety problems seeking permanent solutions to the key issues; forming a key part of the urgent response team within all company operations ·         The management, review and development of all aspects of the company’s BRC certification, its food safety/quality systems, hygiene standards and due diligence defences ·         Deliver agreed technical and quality standards for the site, ensuring that all products produced are within agreed specification ·         Work closely with the site leadership team to instil quality led behaviours, including coaching and developing the existing team ·         Resolve any product quality issues and implement processes to prevent reoccurrence ·         Develop and maintain systems, policies and procedures to ensure product quality, safety and legality ·         Ensure the continual updating of the Quality manual in line with the BRC and relevant legal requirements ·         Lead the HACCP Team in order to produce a valid HACCP plan capable of producing a safe product ·         Act as primary contact with accreditation bodies to ensure full compliance ·         To manage and improve technical contracts including the micro and chemical laboratories, pest control service, calibration services, technical memberships etc. ·         Manage all aspects of microbiology / chemical sampling of products including trend analysis ·         Manage the on-site internal audit schedule ·         Investigate customer complaints and non-conformances and complete monthly complaint KPI reports ·         To effectively monitor the hygiene site standards to ensure that the factory is cleaned to the required standards ·         To provide technical advice and recommendations throughout the business, taking a resolution and continuous improvement approach to problem solving ·         To liaise first hand (reactively and proactively) with customers and Enforcing Authorities.   Qualification’s Skills and Experience ·         Strong Food safety knowledge - you will have built up some experience within the Quality department of a food manufacturer ·         A degree/HNC in Food Science, quality systems or similar, however relevant Food industry qualifications / experience will also be considered · HACCP level 3 training essential ·         Experience in food manufacturing environment – high care essential ·         Working awareness of BRC, ISO, FSSC and other third party food safety and quality systems standards ·         Food Safety and Food Hygiene Qualifications ·         Ability to apply knowledge of food safety and food hygiene legislation including HACCP ·         Audit training and experience desirable ·         Effective communication, listening, influencing and persuading skills at all levels ·         Analysis of verbal, numerical and written information ·         Self-organisation, motivation, planning, prioritising and time management ·         Quality conscious ·         Excellent IT skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office products - in particular word and excel
