We can provide you with the first steps you need to start your new career, ensuring you are fully equipped to support the young people to the best of your abilities ensuring you meet their needs. You will be working with children and young people from the age of 11 to 18 years who have been placed in the care system for a number of reasons and from a variety of backgrounds who may have complex needs and who may display challenging behaviour, however, the training you will receive will have you fully equipped to work confidently and competently. The day to day routine varies from taking young people to education, shopping and leisure activities as well as household tasks. Your general job role would include: Ø Creating a safe and positive living environment Ø Teaching basic life skills and living skills such as budgeting, shopping, cleaning Ø Setting rules and boundaries for young people’s behaviour Ø Interacting and taking part in social activities Ø Providing support and guidance Ø Helping young people to deal with problems and become independent Ø Liaising with social workers, nurses, police, teachers and other multi agencies Ø Keeping accurate records and writes reports Ø Having excellent communication, time management and organization skills Ø Working in a team and also alone when needed This is also a great opportunity for those who have worked in care, security or army environments previously, or have experience in bringing up their own children as everyday tasks such as maintaining a clean and safe environment, protecting the children from any form of abuse, meal preparation, education and money budgeting will be undertaken. Ø Applicants need to be over the age of 21 in accordance to national minimum standards. Ø A driving licence is essential for this position as you may be required to drive the unit car to take the young people to destinations such as family contacts, appointments; school and social activities. Successful candidates will be required to obtain an enhanced DBS at a cost of £57 met by employee, unless you already have a current portable DBS. Please note that International checks might also be required as part of compliance if you have lived or worked for an extensive period abroad. Training for successful candidates includes Team Teach; Child Protection; CPD Certified First Aid; Understanding Behaviour; Working with Self Harm and Understanding Autism and ADHD.
