Job description

P/T Support Worker / Companion     Hours:                  10 hrs per week     (40 per 4 week period)                                           To be worked 5 or 6 days over 7 – (earliest start 9am – latest finish 6pm)                               (Not required on Wednesday) Hours will be discussed at interview – will mainly be split shifts for morning & evening support with meal preparation etc however must be flexible to accommodate the employers support requirements   Hourly rate:       £8.50 p/hr                Location:             Hurlford   Support worker / Companion required to provide social support to a gentleman with mental health and mobility difficulties. Although his moods can fluctuate, he is very friendly, easy going, talkative and enjoys company.  His interests include music Will be required to provide social support, taking the gentleman on public transport to local shops, charity shops and on supported outings to prevent social isolation.   The gentleman is very independent and will require support to maintain this independence.  You will be required to assist with meal preparation, light housework, making phone calls & dealing with correspondence.  He does not require support with personal care but requires someone to be in the home whilst showering to provide assistance in the event of a fall.     Experience / Qualifications Required Experience of supporting adults with physical / mental health difficulties preferred but not essential.   Training Required Moving & Assisting & Epilepsy Training required – this can be provided by the employer   Qualities This vacancy would be suitable to someone with a mature outlook who is able to provide social and emotional support.  It is essential that you are reliable, trustworthy, respectful and aware of the importance of confidentiality. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
